Weligama Bay is one of the best places in the world to learn to surf: a long, sandy-bottomed beach break with gentle, consistent waves all year. Your instructor is a certified local surfer who grew up on this bay.

Lessons are max 4 students per instructor. Most complete beginners stand up in their first session.

I've never surfed. Is this for me?

Yes — this lesson is designed for complete beginners. Weligama's waves are small, slow and break over sand, which makes it one of the safest learning beaches anywhere.

What should I bring?

Just swimwear, sunscreen (reef-safe please) and a towel. Board and rash guard are included.

Which session time is best?

7 AM has the cleanest waves and coolest temperatures. 4 PM has beautiful light and a lively beach atmosphere.
